Beautiful mère-de-la perle or mother of pearl opera glasses made by Lemaire, Paris, France. These personal binoculars are made of gold-plated brass and covered with panels of golden white mere-de-la (mother-of)-perle. They are fully focusable with excellent vision.
Marked Lemaire Ft./ Paris around each eyepiece as shown in photo.
Circa late 1800s to early 1900s
MEASURES -
3 1/2 inches tall, @4 inches wide
Very good overall condition. No chips, missing shell or repairs.
PLEASE NOTE - The gold plating is worn in places from use.
