Oil on Artist Board Floral Still Life Oil Painting by Paul Colin

Unavailable
This lovely floral still life oil on artist board is attributed to the noted French artist, Paul Colin (1892-1985). Canvas measures 21.25 by 25.5 inches (54 by 65 cm) and the frame measures 28.75 by 32.25 inches. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. We estimate the painting dates from the 1940s to 1960s and the frame appears to be as old as the painting. This work is being sold on behalf of a New York area dealer with over thirty five years of experience, who purchased the painting from a local collector within the past five years. Colin is most known for his Art Deco period poster art, especially the works he created in support of Josephine Baker and the Revue Negre beginning in 1925. He also produced sets and costumes in a theater career that spanned over forty years. He was a student of Victor Prouve and Eugène Vallin. This painting resides with our client in Westchester County NY, and may be seen in person by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request.
