Antique Paris Porcelain Painted Platinum Ground Potpourri Vase

Unavailable

This lovely potpourri vase dates from the fourth quarter 19th century and features a pierced foot and cover, tooled in Moorish patterns and decorated with black tracery, the body hand-painted with vivid roses and pansies, marked "Escalier de Cristal, Paris" in gilt script. Lid has been fitted with a gilt-metal finial. There is a hairline from one side of the top through the finial hole across and down through the rim and interior flange with small scattered losses adjacent. There is rubbing to the gilt around the finial and scattered small rubbed areas to the platinum rim. The vase has scattered scuffs to the platinum surface with general rubbed losses to the fine black detail around the pierced lower body and foot. Lid and vase have been drilled, no doubt to accommodate lamp hardware.
