Antique Central Asian Islamic solid silver large necklace torque, late 19th century, Afghanistan Kochi-Kuchi tribe.

It is skillfully handcrafted of several sturdy solid silver elements, soldered together and engraved on the surface. The center is decorated with three glass beads in domed settings; another embossed bead is below. The two ends of the torque are decorated with back-to-back bird heads.

 

CONDITION: It is in its original condition with its rich dark patina intact and mild natural wear in exposed areas from use. We left the patina on the silver. However, if someone wants to use this torque as a shiny necklace, cleaning the patina from the silver surface is easy.

 

MEASUREMENTS:

Dimensions: 20.3 cm x 17.8 cm (8 inches x 7 inches).

Neck gap: 5.1 cm (2 inches).

Weight: 277 grams (9.77 ounces).
