Very pretty large porcelain platter featuring purple violets with green stems and leaves.
It is an oval 'St Germain' shape with a scalloped edge and the hand painted, gold gilt 'Schleiger' pattern accents the ends to look like handles.
The red ink makers mark on the back reads 'Porcelaine', 'Theo Haviland', 'Limoges France'. It also bears the medallion and ribbon 'Legion of Honor' mark which is in the glaze and is very rare. This can be dated back to around 1900.
There is a chip on each end, on the edge of the handle, which is hardly noticeable at first glance and is rough to the touch. There are some minor, faint scratch marks from use which are only noticeable when the light shines on it from an angle and there is some minor wear to the gold paint. There is no crazing or cracking. I have tried to show all of this in the pictures and it's insignificant flaws do not detract from the over all beauty of this fabulous platter.
