Antique Eastlake Slant Top Desk w Rare Secret Door NICE

This is an antique Eastlake style slant top desk made of walnut from the early 1900’s. This desk has a black inlay in several areas as well. The crown is carved with a fan shape at the center and spoon carvings and lines all along the top. There is a secret door behind the crown on the top of the piece that has a lock and opens to the center section. The doors are paneled and the black inlay is very nice on them. The center door has 3 letters in the center of it in the black inlay “FBC”. The doors house cubby holes and compartments. The center has a large label on the back interior wall that shows a picture of the building and talks about the company that made this piece. The desk has a black leather type writing area that lifts out and there is more secret storage underneath it. The desk top is slanted toward the user. There are 4 ringed legs. This piece has a great patina and is in great condition for its age. It is antique and may not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made. It was made by the Pettibone Mfg. Co. in Cincinnati, OH. There is a brass tag on the center front of the desk part that says the company name and location. It says LIBRARY AND SOCIETY GOODS as well. The measurements are: Base: 29 ½ inches tall, 38 5/8 inches side to side and 30 ¼ inches front to back. It weighs 33 pounds. The top is 30 3/8 inches tall, 39 ½ inches side to side and 12 ¼ inches front to back. It weighs 53 pounds. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested.
