This is a nice pair of bookend with a sailing ship at sea theme. They are made of cast iron and painted a redish brown with a dark blue background. The paint is about 80% intact, with most of the paint wear at the top of the 4" height. No damage or rust noted, very good shape overall. There is felt on the bottom to protect your shelves from rubs and scratches. The part that faces the book has an interested textured surface but is flat otherwise. A nice pair of book holders from the early 1900's era!
