Very Rare Antique 18th century Chinese export porcelain dish of shallow rounded form, decorated in classical 16th-17th century, Islamic Turkish Ottoman Iznik style, finely hand painted in bright red, green, blue, yellow and black enamel on white ground, with an ottoman galley ship with seven pairs of oars and two masts topped with flags and the blue wavy sea with swimming fish and the Tulip and Prunus blossom below. The border adorned with stylized wave and rock motif; the rim dressed brown.

MEASUREMENTS
Diameter: 13.5 cm (5.31 inches).

CONDITION: In very good condition. No cracks, repairs, or restorations.

The Ottoman navy had an increasing presence in the Mediterranean in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and it is not surprising that sailing ships became a popular motif in Iznik plates.
