Antique 18th-19th century miniature Indian Hindu bronze Shiva shrine from Western India in the form of a courtyard, Shiva and his family seated around a lingam, including his wife Parvati in her Annapurna manifestation and his son Ganesh, and the Shiva's Vahana Nandi at the entrance.

CONDITION: It shows its age and use with age-related wear and patina.

MEASUREMENTS:

Height: 3.5cm (1.38 inches).

Width: 4.8 cm (1.89 inches).

Depth: 5.5cm (2.17 inches).

Such shrines come from the small towns and villages of Maharashtra (the state that takes in Mumbai/Bombay) indicating that these were popular objects of worship in domestic settings. It was customary that these domestic shrines were tended regularly with daily worship and offerings. But rarely are such shrines encountered now.
