This uniquely Italian polearm was made for fighting with its 24" diamond-section spike and curved lugs (sharpened on both edges) with pointed ends. The curved lugs were used to cut a horseman’s reins and/or dismount a rider, after which the spike would be used to dispatch him. This example shows age and use, with small losses to one lug and light to moderate pitting. One lug stamped with Venetian arsenal mark. Mounted on later round-section wood shaft. Length of metal 38 ½"; overall 87"
