NEAT COLD PAINTED BRONZE OF ARAB ON CAMEL BACK MARBLE

Unavailable
An impressive Cold Painted Austrian Bronze model of an Arab on camel back clearly looking across distant sands from the vantage point provided by his Camel, his traditional costume protecting him from desert conditions and a rifle held at the ready. Mounted on a nice marble base designe to hold calling cards.

Many 'Orientalist' themes were produced during the late 19th Centry by the foundries in Vienna, and such was the fascination for the mystery of the East, production continued well into the early part of the 20th Century. The soft, muted colours are provided by the application of metallic paint, a departure from the realism aspired to in earlier models on the same theme, though quite possibly the 'trademark' of one particular foundry, it may simply have been an alternative approach to providing decorative objects at the time. Good original paint. Austria. Approximately 8" tall. Circa 1900
