Beautifull Puka Shell Necklace, Sterling Silver, Navajo made, Puka shell from Hawaii. Makes for a stunning necklace.  Ca. 1968/70, when turquoise started to get scarce, and the Native American silversmiths, started looking around for other materials to make jewelry out of.  This is a piece out of an estate connected to the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado Arizona.  The Hubbell's were great innovators, and were always looking for new things to attract the tourists.  They sold the raw materials to the Indians, and then sold their handcrafts for them in the trading post.  They always had 20 or 30 Navajo, Zuni, Hopi, and Santo Domingo silversmiths working out of the trading post for many years.  This piece is unsigned, which is typical of the era.  This necklace measures, 14 inches long, including the sterling silver chain, the Puka shell pieces are approximately 2 inches by 2 inches. In near mint condition,  Thanks for shopping in the Land of Enchantment! FREE SHIPPING USA! REDUCED!
