American Zapotec rug, hand woven by descendents of the Mexican Zapotec, who came here with the Spanish Conquistador Onate in the 1500's. Hand woven with fine wool from sheep they raised themselves, the indigenous people had the famous "Rug Room in Taos, and Santa Fe for many years, until the economy forced them to close. This particular rug is a classic Zapotec design, measures 80 inches long including 4 inch fringe, it is 48 inches wide. In near mint condition, no holes, no stains, looks unused.
