In the 60's smoking was still "cool" and ashtrays were an important part of home decorating. Mosasics were the hot new style. This 9.5" x 9.5" square ashtray would have been proudly diplayed as the focal point of the coffee table. A few gold tiles are scattered among the white ceramic tiles. In the center a turquiose tile has the remnents of a gold flower design along with most of the Georges Briard signature. Some of the gold is worn from a few of the gold tiles. The corner edges of the brass bottom have a little normal wear.
