1860 Miniature Church Services, Prayer, New Testament, Leather, Brass Clasp & Banding
Miniature Church Services, with a decorative brass clasp, 1860. Bound in full brown leather binding, with triple ruled blind tooled border, on outer edges of front and back boards. Signed Treacher binding. Five raised bands on spine, with blind tooled ruled borders on either side of each band. Six compartments, with Gold Lettering, forming the words "Church Services in one of the compartments. All edges of book are brass bound, with a brass clasp holding it securely closed. All edges are gilt!
Containing: "The Book Of Common Prayer", 1860. "Proper Lessons", 1860. "The New Testament", 1860. " A New Version
Of The Psalms Of David", 1860. And "Hymns".
Condition of the binding is Very Good. Binding is tight and secure, with absolutely no weakness to the hinges. Leather is supple. Brass hinge fits securely. Text block is securely attached. Pages are clean with no fingerprints. Scattered light foxing at the very beginning and ending of book, on black pages, and title pages. Last page has a tear across the top corner and is missing part of the text For The Evening Hymn. (see picture #8). There are some light pencil marks on some of the blank pages. One blank page at the back is missing. Text pages are clean and bright, and supple. Because of these 3 things, the condition is Good +.
There is a touching inscription on a blank page in the front of the book:
"Ann Young from one earnestly desiring her prosperity and happiness. Dec. 13, 1860."
