Beautiful, hand painted, Meissen porcelain bowl. Unusual octagonal shape with graceful curved rims that form broken pediments as seen in photo. The interior of the bowl is hand painted with Dresden-style flowers. The exterior has two panels decorated with flowers on black ground and two panels painted with river scenes, possibly along the Elbe. The interior and exterior rim are outlined with curling gold patterns. Very, very pretty indeed.
MARKED on the bottom with Meissen crossed swords as shown in photo.
Circa late 1800s to 1920s.
MEASURES 8-1/4 inches on each side. 3 inches tall.
Very good condition. No chips, cracks, dings or repairs found. Some light wear on the gold trim and on the black can be seen.
