An impressive automaton Adam & Eve Lancashire longcase clock. A fine mahogany case with choice veneers and inlays. A swan-neck hood pediment surmounted by three finials. A triple arched trunk door with acorn finial. An arched painted dial with Adam and Eve scene in the Garden of Eden with moving arm. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Edward Winstanley of Preston worked in Wallgate from 1809-1828 as recorded in Loomes' 'Lancashire Clockmakers' book.
