MARK BARTLEY, BRISTOL Circa. 1840
A quality Bristol longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers with satinwood banded inlays and marquetry crossbanding. Brass capped fluted hood columns. Chamfered trunk sides. An attractive arched painted dial with gilt floral decorations. Blued steel hands with date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Mark Bartley of Bristol is recorded in A J Moores' 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working in Nicholas and Bridge Street from 1815-1855. A number of illustrations are shown which are very similar.
