Alfred Boucher (French, 1950-1934) La Danseuse Spanish Dancer Bronze Sculpture

This lovely bronze by Alfred Boucher (1850-1934) is entitled La Danseuse Espagnole (The Spanish Dancer).  Height: 27 in, 68.5 cm.  Condition is good, with surface dirt and wear consistent with age. There are a few small bits of paint and dirt on the chest and left shoulder and spots of green oxidation. The head has a small dent at the top, and the bronze is slightly loose at the foot but is secure. There is a bend to the index figure.

The plaster mold for this model, also known as Ballerina, was featured in photograph of the artist's studio in Florence in 1883. Literature:  images 89, page 91, Alfred Boucher 1850-1934, Jacques Piette, Nogent-sur-Seine, 2000. Provenance: Sotheby's.
