Bronze Statue of Female Diving Swimmer Bather After La Tuffolina by Odoardo Tabacchi

Unavailable

This wonderful bronze, measuring 43" tall and 31" deep, depicts a female swimmer preparing to dive, after the model by the Italian master, Odoardo Tabacchi (1831-1905), entitled La Tuffolina (the diver) dating from the 1870s.  The original cast was purchased in 1879 and said to have been purchased by Umberto I, King of Italy.  Tabacchi taught at the Accademia Albertina of Torino (the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin).  We have not found any hallmarks, and believe this cast dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.
