Large antique mahogany glass front bookcase dating back to the 19th century. This elegant piece of antique furniture features 2 large doors to the front with individual panes of glass and lighter colored inlay accenting the lower panels. The doors open to reveal fixed 3 solid wood graduating shelves with a lower large storage section. Crowning the top is a beautiful burled wood cornice with Greek key carving and the whole thing stands on stylish bracket feet. The doors still retain the original lock but no key and 3 of the glass panes are newer replacements. There is also a small chip in the edge of one of the glass panes which is hardly noticeable. There is minor wear throughout which is only to be expected in a piece of furniture this old. Over all this impressive bookcase has developed a wonderful patina with some beautiful wood grain showing through in reddish brown tones. It is in solid sturdy condition with minor age appropriate flaws. Dimensions: Width 53", depth 20 1/2", total height 82 1/4", width at cornice 56", depth at cornice 22 1/2".
