Our client's KPM porcelain plaque depicting The Pie Eaters after the original painting by Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1617-1682) is masterfully painted by Carl Meinelt.  Mounted in period giltwood and gesso frame.  Plaque 12 3/8 by 16 5/8 in (31.5 by 42 cm).  Signed C (arl) M(eine) lt.  With partial paper label for Franz Xavier Thallmaier.

According to Christie's, Meinelt was a watercolorist and painter on porcelain in Bamberg between 1852 and 1886.

One of Murillo's most adored works, the original resides in the collection of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, Germany.
