This pierced handle, shallow serving bowl was made in Germany by the Krister Porzellan-Manufaktur A. G. in the the 1920's or 1930's after the Rosenthal group achieved majority holding. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and it has excellent paint, gold trim and detail. There is an insignificant scratch and a few very minor defects in the glaze on the interior bottom. It looks as though it was barely, if ever, used. Krister Porzellan-Manufaktur was founded by Carl Franz Krister in 1831 and he intentionally imitated the KPM marks of the famous Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in Berlin in an attempt to catch some of their customers. The marks were similar but not an exact copy like the one on the bottom of this bowl where instead of the sceptre mark there is a plain vertical line emulating the KPM mark used around the 1830's or 1840's. The quality of Krister's porcelain was also exceptionally good. This two handled serving bowl is marked on the bottom KPM with a vertical line above, Made In Germany in a circle and the numbers 21588 and 48/47 (see photos) and is 10 1/2" in diameter, 11 7/8" across including the handles and 2 1/4" high.
