This is a nice new old stock 9/32" (.28") diameter German style brace auger bit. These were made by "THE JAMES SWAN CO. SEYMOUR CONN. U.S.A." as we have the original wood box with the blue label you see in the last picture. If you purchase the last of whatever quanity we have left, you get the original box which is in good shape with about 90% of the label intact. The bits are only marked "9" on each, Swan didn't mark them. Each bit has a good sharp lead screw, followed by a single spiral tapered design, for wood working. The cutting edge area is finish ground, and smaller shank after that is black, the same as the tapered square to fit into the brace chuck of that type, this is a black heat treated natural finish. A hard to brace bit item in new condition!
