Exceptional Renaissance Revival rosewood Victorian center table. The stunning design of the top features intricate inlay using motifs of herons, masks, leaves, acorns, cattails, musical instruments, ribbons and a sheaf of arrows. This is set into a background of numerous lovely light and dark burls. The result is a profusion of vibrant color and beauty. There are a few very slight separations in the top. This top is all framed by a intricate band of brass molding. There is a gilt incised carved shield on the four sides of the skirt. The two broader sides feature a bronze plaque while the two ends have a painted porcelain plaques (probably Sevres). These are all encased with a fancy brass border. There is also a brass border along the bottom edge of the skirt. The skirt, legs and base stretcher all are decorated with bands of satinwood inlay along with original gilt incised carvings. An elegant fluted carved finial sits in the middle of the bottom stretcher. The table has the original brass cap castors. With porcelain and bronze plaques, great quality and styling, brass trim and vibrant detailed inlay, this table has it all!
