Scarabs are associated with the Egyptian god, Khepri. It was Khepri that pushed the sun across the sky. The scarab beetle became an ancient Egyptian symbol for rebirth, the ability to be reborn. Each day the sun disappeared, always to rise again and be reborn the following day.
This necklace was not mass produced and was specially made for a gentleman who traveled the world thru the Grand tour period as a gift to his daughter .He wanted to give his daughter a reminder of his trip to Egypt so he gave this to her on her 5th birthday. This was passed on from owner to owner until it arrived in my possession about 20 years ago. This has never been offered for public sale and has been in private collections. Solid sterling pendant with 15" silver chain ( content unknown)
