What a great old piece of history ( family and biblical). This Antique Leather bound with Gold Illustrated Family Holy Bible has the family history of the Baldwins from as early as births in 1798. In this 1876 Bible: 'The People's Standard Edition of the Holy Bible' Containing the Old and New Testaments and the Apocryphal Writings, the two-Column 2-Marginal Edition. It is profusely illustrated The family portrait section is last ( no original photos of the family are in it) . Wonderful illus. scenes/scapes that include: Frontispiece of The Holy Land (in b&w); Baby Moses at the River; Our (lord's) Prayer with the Commandments (possibly Framable?); countless Scripture Illustrations & Descriptions of scenes and events in the Life of Christ and the Apostle Paul, with fold out Maps of Bible countries and so much more. ...Translated from the Hebrew and Greek, and Carefully Compared with Former Translations: Text conformable with the standard of the American Bible Society: together with a complete Concordance, the Psalms in metre, nearly one hundred thousand marginal readings and references, and a historical and chronological index to the entire word. Illustrated maps, full page steel engravings. Dictionary of the Bible." Cover has heavy rubbings and is edgeworn; worn gilt gold decoration to front, back and spine. Covers are decorated, thick worn embossed leather. All page ends are gilt. age toned pages. Some family history pages are noted/ filled in. There are numerous black & white illustrations/pictures and a few in color. Tissue guards are good. . Overall, a family treasure that is almost 4 inches thick and very heavy.
 

It contains 1800 engravings ON STEEL, WOOD, AND IN COLOR., a bible dictionary and cities of the bible,as well as numerous other tables, listings and other descriptive information. Has some stunning artwork, some of which is color.   Overall the condition is well loved and used with signs of age and use, there is a couple bends and a few damaged corners on a few pages. It measures approx 12.5"x10.5"x3.5" The books binding is off on the front.
