Warehouse find! From a gift shop in San Diego that sold souvenirs to the military during WWII. In storage for almost 70 years! Hand-painted oranges on top of the suede-covered box lid. Impressed "Handkerchiefs" & "San Diego California". Nice, bright padded red fabric in the bottom. It has a leather strap closure with a metal snap. The box is plain cardboard. It was probably used as a mailer. It has some sun-fading as in the photo.
