Charming hand painted pottery wild duck planter, made in Occupied Japan, 1947-1951. This detailed piece is in blues, greens, and rusts on a whitish background. It portrays a duck as it would appear floating along on the water, with its legs close to the body and its wings somewhat raised. On the bottom painted in black is HAND PAINTED around an arch logo and MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN beneath. The duck measures approximately 3.75 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 3.5 inches deep. It is in very good condition, with vivid colors and no chips or cracks. There is a small area on the head which has a glossy finish but is devoid of color.
