This extraordinary dresser box is crafted from bronze and features etched steel panels depicting organic and figural neoclassical and renaissance motifs with damascened inlaid gold, and old (possibly original) buttoned red satin upholstery. It dates from the nineteenth century and is likely of French origin. The overall condition is very good and the degree of wear to the gold is consistent with its age. This is an especially large box measuring 14.25" wide and 6" deep. There are no hallmarks and the maker is unknown. Additional images forwarded upon request.
