This very large and unusual ceramic bowl from the 19th century is believed to be of French or possibly Russian origin, features a footed bowl supported by two nymphs, with magnificent parcel-gilt and hand-painted floral decorations, and surmounted by a gilt metal rim of intertwined vines. The pedestal features matching floral decorations and gilded decorations and is raised on six lion paw feet. There are restorations to the base at the center and along one side which is distorted in shape, and to the base of the bowl and at the rim.  There are noticeable losses to the gilding throughout. Measures approximately 19" across and 19" tall.  There are no hallmarks the the maker and country of origin are unknown. The ceramic may be porcelain or soft-paste porcelain.
