A Gibbs and Wilcox sewing machine. The last patent date listed on the machine is April 7, 1883. It has the larger fabric plate and the adjustable number of stitches per inch. You can set it for 12,13,14,16,18,20,22,24,27 & 30 stitches per inch. It has been well used as the gold decorative paint and also some of the black finish is gone. There is some light tarnishing to the fabric plate. It is still in good working condition and can be set up to be used with either a treadle or an electric motor driven by belt or directly with the drive wheel.
