French Ivory Bone STANHOPE ROSARY Cross Carved

This is a highly ornate STANHOPE cross with its original viewer of ANNE DE Beaupre inside. According to history she is Mother of OUR lady, Grandmother of Jesus Christ. Wife of St Joachim The church, Anne-de-Beaupre was founded in 1658 by a group of sailors who attributed their rescue from a storm on the St. Lawrence to the intercession of St. Anne. Soon, the chapel began gaining a reputation as a place where spontaneous healings occurred. This reputation meant that more people showed up looking for cures to various ailments. And, as they became cured, they left their money, which allowed the church to expand. This Stanhope shows St. Anne above the church. The beads are carved ivory or bone with rosettes on each. The cross is 2" tall. The strand is 23" long with a drop of 6". These are VERy hard to find so don’t miss out at the last minute.
