Exceptional 19th Century French lacquered boulle game table. Boulle, a master of marquetry, was specialized by Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1732). The distinctive type of inlay that Boulle developed and that bears his name consists of tortoiseshell with inlay in brass, pewter, or copper. His influence continued into the 19th century. Boulle works are highly sought after, collectable and command high prices. This stunning boulle table consists of a lacquered mahogany Louis XV style frame with complex tortoiseshell and brass inlay, featuring fabulous cherub bronze mounts and a felt flip top that turns into a game table. It is in excellent condition and truly a magnificent piece! Circa 1870, measuring 36W x 18D x 30H.
