Fireplace Fender, 18th C., Brass and Steel, English

To a fine and rare late 18th century English fireplace fender. This example is of fine quality with heavy brass castings forming a trellis with small flowers at each apex. The brass is cast in small sections, expertly joined together. Above and below are moulded steel rails and end pieces, expertly fashioned. The fender is of multiple serpintine form and the steel work is polished in contrast to the brass.
