A marvelous Feathered Star pattern quilt. It is done in a light purple and ecru cotton sateen fabrics. It has a cotton batting and the same purple as the backing fabric. It is machine pieced but hand quilted with 16 stitches per inch in 1" squares on the diagonal on the borders and in some of the blocks. Other quilting patterns were used in the balance of the blocks. It has prairie point edging. The quilt has some light soiling from usage and age. We have not washed it and recommend that it not be washed as it could cause damage to the fragile old sateen fabric. The light soiling is simply part of the quilts usage and history. There is one spot where the sateen fabric has shattered. It is apx 1" high and 4" long, located 1 foot in from one corner at the edge by the prairie points on the front of the quilt, see pic #4. There is also a spot apx 2" x 2" on the opposite end of the quilt, in apx the same distance as the shattered area that has damage to it. There are 4 small tears to the front of the quilt as shown in picture #2 and one of these tears goes through to the back of the quilt as shown in picture #4. We have priced this quilt at significantly below market value due to the shattering, the tears and the soiling. It is still an excellent quilt for graphics and the hand quilting.
