An old eroded 14 lb Patung Sentani Korwar from Indonesia, definitely a fertility statue(note his large penis). Beautiful aging and erosion, still in good condition. Insect free. A must have. Circa 1960.
Korwar images served as supernatural intermediaries, allowing the living to communicate with the dead. When a family member died, his or her relatives summoned a carver, typically a religious specialist, who created a Korwar and enticed the spirit of the deceased to enter it.
