A simple, elegant Edwardian necklace comprising a gold chain interspersed with alternating pink and white freshwater baroque pearls. The pearls have strong color and very nice iridescence. Freshwater pearls, mainly harvested from the Mississippi River and its tributaries, were very popular at the end of the 19th century and into the beginning of the 20th. The necklace is 15-1/2” long, and was made to be worn at its full length or at a shortened 14-5/8”. This necklace would be an ideal “first piece of real jewelry gift”.
