Melanesian Massim Trobriand Ebony Oceanic Art Hand Carved Rock sFish .    

It is inlaid with rounds of mother of pearl and the eyes are the shell closure,   Operculum,  for the Gold Mouth Turban shell.  It measures 6.5" long x 4.5" x 2.14" deep.

It is a very dense heavy hardwood.      The Trobriand Islands are in the Solomon Sea near  New Guinea.
