Distinctive Swiss Hand-Carved Wooden Bowl

Unavailable
Distinctive and beautiful hand-carved wooden bowl from the Appenzell region of Switzerland, made in 1969. This intricately relief-carved piece is unusual in its construction. The bowl, with 3 rows of decorative carving, is made from 10 sections of natural, blond wood on a round base with 3 decorative feet. Two carved wooden rings, approximately 1.25 inches wide, are attached to the bowl with wooden pegs in such a way that they pivot up and down. On the top ring is elaborate joinery on the front and "G.V. 1969 Appenzell" on the back. The bottom ring is similar but smaller. On the bottom of the bowl is stamped "JOH. FASSLER, Weisskuferei, APPENZELL. The piece measures approximately 4.5 inches high and 9 inches in diameter; it weighs 1.5 pounds. The bowl is in very good condition, with minimal surface wear. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging / handling will be $12.00.
