Diana Goddess of the Hunt Bronze Sculpture by Lucie Signoret-Ledieu (French, 1858-1904)

This lovely patinated bronze by Lucie Signoret-Ledieu (French, 1858-1904) depicts Diana, the Goddess of the Hunt.  24.5 x 7.5 x 8.5 in.  Overall condition is good, with some scratches and abrasions, consistent with age, and losses to the bow.  The artist was born in 1858 in Nevers.  She was a student of Jean Gautherin (1840-1890) and exhibited at the Paris Salon beginning in 1878.   In 1883 and 1886 she won the honourable mention award. Her Statue of Joan of Arc stands in St-Pierre-le-Moutier in Nevers.  Her sculpture, Woman Spinning, can be seen at the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Chambery Ville, in the east of France in Savoie.
