Description: The first known examples of Chinese erotic art and texts date back over two thousand years – erotic art is an integral part of China’s cultural heritage. It is a very collectible item when found in jewelry. The paintings and drawings way back when were made under the pretext of providing instruction for shy or inexperienced young people, though one is left wondering who might have been the intended recipients of male love art. This carved bone or ivory snuff bottle measures 3 1/4” long and is made so that one side is erotica and the other a lotus blossom so as not to offend anyone. That way the bottle can be held with the image facing out that was appropriate. It is in very good condition.
