Description: This is such an exquisite and intricate hand wrought metal lace necklace that it is more like a work of art than a piece of jewelry. Notice the faceted black jet beads that inside the fancy filigree drops. There are two smaller drops from the florette in the center as well. The top is some sort of European silver ( the florettes) and each is hand soldered. The larger moth shaped drops are actually arched ( the photos don't show it that well) and they have a lot of dimension which really makes this necklace. The length around the neck is 16" ( an extender could easily be added ) and the drop is 3 1/2" long x 5" wide. Made in tiers this is so fabulous that you can only admire all the work it had to have taken to make this GRAND GEORGIAN necklace. Lots of dark patina on the necklace really shows how old this is. The top florettes test at some degree under sterling, but the bottom is more of a silver gilt . IT is a rare piece indeed and I doubt you ever see another like it.
