Robert de Vaugondy (Robt), Partie de l'Amerique..., Colonies in America, 1755, 25 inch., ephemera, maps, globes & charts
A 1755 engraved map of the Colonies in America by De Vaugondy.
Partie De L'Amerique Septentrionale map by De Vaugondy, French, 1755, engraved on laid paper and outline-colored. This map is significant for its dense detail of east coast river systems and settlements from New England inland to the Ohio Valley, depicting some of the earliest accurate information for these regions. The outline color designates pre-Treaty of Paris boundaries for the Ohio lands. DeVaugondy's map was based on John Mitchell's map of North America which was considered the best information available regarding the continent in the mid 18th century.
Original hand colored in outline. Discolored around the edges and slightly age toned.
