Collection (99) Oud Delft Spice Kitchen Jars

Included in this unique collection are 99 different tin glazed, hand-painted ceramic spice and ingredient jars, made by Oud Delft, in five sizes and dating from the 1940s and 1950s. Our first photograph, circa 1955, shows the original owner standing in front of a breakfront which was custom-made to display the collection. Quantities by size are as follows: (6) 9" high and 5.6" diameter; (8) 8" high and 6" diameter; (10) 7" high and 4.5' diameter; (10) 6" high and 3.75" diameter; (65) 4" high and 2.75" diameter. No ingredient is duplicated. The Oud Delft company was founded by Roelof Elshout in 1920 in Nijmegen Netherlands. In 1996 it moved to Waddinxveen and was acquired by Aardewerkfabriek 't Deltsche Huys B.V.

Overall condition is very good. There are no chips nor visible cracks to the jars, and a handful of the lids have cracks or flake chips and roughly two dozen lids show visible crazing. Three of the 9" jar lids show crazing, and one has a long hairline and one is chipped. All eight of the 8" jar lids show visible crazing. All ten of the 7" jar lids show light crazing. Two of the 6" jar lids have flake chips. Two of the 4" jar lids have small flake chips on the underside of the rim, two lids have flake chips (less than 1/4" across) from the edge of the tops of the lids, and one lid has a chip roughly 1" across along the edge.
