Large black glass inkwell, with Chinese Gordon Ink Bottle around the neck, and around the body crossed swords, a portrait of Chinese Gordon himself (General Charles George Gordon) with laurel leaves, and Born 23rd Jan. 1833 and Died at Khartoum 26th Jan. 1885. General Gordon was famously killed during the defense of Khartoum. Ink well measures 71 mm high and 117 mm diameter (2.3/4 inches by 4.1/4 inches). It has a screw thread around the top of the well, so must have once had a lid. Shallow well, definitely not a bottle per se. It is in excellent condition - there is one very shallow sliver of glass off the underneath of the well. Not seen unless you turn it upside down. Most unusual item.
