Cherries Cherry Basket Still Life Oil Painting

Unavailable
This exceptional still life oil painting dates from the 19th century, and is believed to be of French or Dutch origin. Depicted in this work is a spilled basket of lucious red cherries and three glass cruets. We have not found a signature. Canvas is nicely crackled, consistent with its age. Wonderfully ornate, giltwood and gesso frame is of the period. During a recent move, one corner was damaged considerably. Roughly 1/2 to 2/3 of the pieces from the damage have been retained and could be utilized in restoration. We intend to complete frame restoration at our expense following the sale. Canvas was relined a long time ago, likely in the early 20th century. Frame measures 33 7/8" by 28" by 3 3/4" and canvas measures 26" by 20 3/4". Weighs 11 lbs. Imported from Hungary roughly five years ago by our client, the rear of the canvas bears an export seal of approval from Hungarian customs.
