A pair of oak wainscot joined side chairs c.1680. English in origin. The chairs retain the original well developed top scroll crest rail and good turnings to the front legs and stretchers. They display good rich patina and color. These chairs were originally used with tie on pillows, which were four to six inches in height and have not survived. With the usual repairs, including replaced feet bottoms. Note: these chairs are rare to find in pairs.
