This is a beautiful Broken Star quilt made in the 1920's.  It is made of 100% cotton fabrics and has a cotton batting.  It is hand pieced and hand quilted.   It is quilted with 8 - 10 stitches per inch and the quilting is every 1.75 inches apart in the white muslin fabric.  The pieces of the star are each outline quilted.  It has the same muslin backing.  It is in excellent condition with only one minor stain in the fabric as shown in the picture #8.  It was made by Elsie Norma Glasgow Abney in the 1920's.  She married William Claude Abney, both from Rector, Arkansas, in 1920 and moved to Paragould, Arkansas.  Claude was a pharmacist and Elsie a mother and housewife.  She was 22 when she married and moved to Paragould.  She was an avid quilter and made many quilts in her lifetime.  We have 3 quilts from her grandson who now resides in Florida.
