Antique Swiss Davos Hickory & Iron Bentwood Sled / Toboggan

Unavailable
Antique Swiss Davos bentwood sled / toboggan, Pilz model, probably made of hickory and iron. Davos has been making these "sledges" for over 100 years, originally for competitive sled racing in St. Moritz. This is one of the first sleds made for sitting rather than lying face down. This wonderful antique sled is in very good condition, sturdy and intact, and very beautiful. It would make a great primitive display piece sitting on the floor or hanging on the wall in a lodge, cabin, or cottage, as well as in a house. The old wood has a wonderful warm hue and patina. The sled could also be used for racing down a snow-covered hill. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping and handling will be determined based upon zipcode of the buyer.
